Open Thread, 5/6: Friars vs Redbirds

May vs Suppan

These 5:10 starts screw me up a little bit. We join the action in the bottom of the first. The Padres have already struck for one. Let's go Padres!

Padres are looking pretty good so far
May looks confident. Poised some would say.

I'll say he looks sanguine.

a bounty to be sure
I came home today to find that wifey had hit Costco today. So, now I'm eating some Kirkland Extra Fancy Mixed Nuts. Deeeelish. Shortly, I'll be sipping a Dr Pepper.

Ramon with a broken bat single. Ramon's my Padres all star. He's provided some good Major League Memories®

Reggie Sanders home run
Why is he so mad at us? Why does he dig a little deeper? Why does he unleash such fury on our boys?

Padres with a couple of breaks here
I think the Cardinals want us to win.

Everybody roots for the underdogs.

nevin
continues his hitting streak with a double that means 14 games with a .142 average.  I made up that average.

nevin to third
giles appears to be thinking about kournikova again.

Doesn't it seem like there are a bunch of Grannies in the stands today in STL.

2-1, St. Louis
Time to get aggressive, Padres.

Get aggressive soon, cause jbox is falling asleep on my couch and waking him up is like trying to get a leash on a hippo.

Jbox gets grouchy.

Giles has a horrible arm
And now it's 3 to 1.

Friggin' May, dude
Somebody call timeout. Calm May down a little bit.

Jbox is dictating his comments to me from the couch so that we give the illusion of more than just us in the comments section today.

where's the shalaylee?
Somebody get the shalaylee.

by jbox on May 6, 2005 6:35 PM PDT   0 recs

4-1 St. Louis at the end of 3
That's nothing dude.

Oh man. Grant just broke out the shalaylee.

Roberts gets a big double
and loretta bunts him over to third

Those curves look so slow
They look as though they could be hit a mile.  Suppan's stuff looks like soup.  But I guess the Padres aren't in the mood tonight.

May
I sometimes do what May did when I'm playing MVP Baseball 2005 on the PS2. Like I'll give up one run and then I'll get mad and just give up a ton of runs. Then I'll turn the PS2 off in frustration.

You see Suppan sniff his cap?
That's nasty. Though I guess you gotta check for the funk sometime.

BIG LEAGUE BALD SPOT!!!

They must have it figured out
If Sweeney's gonna be clutch all the time, somebody better be Big League Hairing that guy.

We're in the bullpen, boys!
Thank Grant for the shalaylee.

So how unintimidating is it to have
two cute little red birdies holding up a bat.  I guess you can see I don't like the Cards uni's.  But I do like the contrast between Red and white, especially to see the crowd decked in red.  It's like a high school football game.

Our mascot is a monk though
Maybe if it was like a Shaolin monk or something, but instead it's like a Gregorian chant kinda monk.

who in the sam hell is R. Williams
all we know about this guy is that he's a tall drink of water.

by jbox on May 6, 2005 7:17 PM PDT   0 recs

Giles clutch
with a 2 out triple to tie the game.  The Padres are tough.  They look good, even if they don't win, I'm liking their progress.

What I am saying
the pads are going to win!
