Around SBN: Seahawks Trade for TE Kellen Winslow

Game Report, 4/8: Pirates 3, Padres 2

Well, that was a little disappointing. It was looking like they'd be able to pull out a little rally at the end there.

Things I learned at today's game...

  • Ryan Klesko can hit home runs to the deepest part of the field in the heavy ocean air
  • Anthony's might be the best food value in the park
  • Brian Giles is awesome
If Giles and Klesko can hit those huge shots while the drizzle is coming down and the wind's kicking in, then we should officially put to rest any complaints about the ballpark not allowing for offense.

At Anthony's, we got a nice sized clam chowder in a bread bowl, a good portion of fish and chips and a medium soda for $20. But at least it filled us up!

How hard was it raining?  It looked pretty bad on TV.  You guys get soaked?

Pirates Manager gets the boot...
Could you hear any of the obscenities from your seats?  I know you were pretty close to 3rd base.  That's the same guy that ripped third base outta the ground one game.  Those umps kept it real cool under the pressure.  On TV it kinda looked like Giles did swing on the pitch though.

Klesko
That was a huge home run for Klesko.  I liked that he was still mad at that ball when he got to the dug out.  Not even a smile.  Just "Grrrr! Take that Petco!"  Part of me, wanted the ball to hit off the top of the wall and back in play.  I know, I know the Padres needed the run, but I seriously think Klesko would have exploded and we would just see a little smoke coming out of some empty cleats.

It drizzled on and off pretty good
It wasn't bad at all, but when it's a real heavy mist coming down and you're just sitting there watching baseball while wearing jeans, you end up pretty wet. We couldn't hear any obsenities, but I love watching a manager scream at a blue. It's an art.
