Christmas Eve

I just wanted to log on here and wish everybody a merry Christmas! And if you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope you're enjoying the long weekend and crowded shopping malls.

I don't know why I messed with the whole Thanksgiving Poem thing, because I feel obliged to write a poem now, but as it turns out, when I think of the Padres at Christmas, I can only think of all of our old players who've gone on to different places. It's become one of those bittersweet Christmases like what Bob Cratchit would have with Tiny Tim and the family when they would eat a roasted sparrow for Christmas dinner instead of a duck or turkey or some other larger size poultry. And even though the meal was meager, they would all love it, because Tiny Tim was still alive and not actively dying of his broken leg.

So this Christmas, enjoy the company of those around you and remember those who aren't able to be with you. And always remember that Santa's on his way, and if you don't celebrate Christmas, then I'll drop by on my magic turtle and bring you a present anyway.
