Ramon Hernandez Interview

Mighty 1090 had an interview with Ramon Hernandez this morning that was pretty interesting. He says that no one from Padres management has tried to contact him at all. He says his agent only got one phone call from them all off season. He also mentioned that he is still going to live in San Diego and would consider taking a San Diego discount if they seemed interested in him but since they don't he is going to have to look elsewhere. I don't know how much of this is true and honestly half of what he said was garbled in broken english so I'll reserve judgement. Any thoughts from you guys?

It's too bad they haven't at least talked to him
but Ramon has made it pretty clear that he's looking for big bucks... until now.

This morning on 1090 they also had Phil Nevin on talking about Trevor.  I got really scared Nevin was coming back when I heard his gravelly voice on the air.

I've never been that high on Ramon
he's an average defensive catcher, he works real with the pitchers and his offense is good but clutchless.  I wouldn't pay him a ton of money, but if he wants a discount I'd look into it.

Sure he is.
I wouldn't say he's clutchless, in fact I think he was our most clutch player at the end of the season.  I'd love to see him stay, but knowing the Padres we'll probably end up with Brad Ausmus or somebody close to that average ability.
